Wheaton web design for local businesses

A website built for a business that wants the phone to ring, not an award.

A small-business website should load fast, say what you do in the first few seconds, and make the next step obvious. We design and build yours around the enquiry you want, not around a template that happens to be on offer, and you own the result outright.

Working in Wheaton

Wheaton is the county seat, and that one fact shapes its commerce more than anything else. The courthouse and the county offices pull in law firms, title companies, accountants and process servers, clustered within a few streets of each other. Everything outside that core is residential, walkable downtown, and a Metra line that empties the town every weekday morning.

  • 19,588households
  • $120kmedian household income
  • 53,970residents

Households and income are the US Census Bureau's 2020–2024 American Community Survey estimates; population is the 2020 census. We put them here because the size and spending power of a catchment change what a site has to do, and because a figure you can check beats an adjective.

About nine miles north of the studio in Naperville. We work across downtown Wheaton, the DuPage County courthouse, Roosevelt Road, Wheaton College and Cantigny Park, and Wheaton sits in DuPage County.

No Wheaton project on the site yet. The work we have done is here, and every one of those opens a live site you can check on your own phone.

Website design and development in Wheaton

Wheaton has a higher concentration of professional firms than any other suburb we work in, and professional firms have a recognisable website problem: the page opens with the firm. A client arrives with a problem and scans for it, so the page that names the problem in its first line beats the one that leads with a founding date.

The courthouse cluster means your nearest three competitors are genuinely comparable on credentials. What separates them online is whether the site explains what happens next and roughly what it costs, and most of them do neither.

Downtown Wheaton and the Roosevelt Road corridor behave like two different towns commercially. One has footfall and a Metra platform; the other has none and every customer arrives through a search.

The Metra rhythm is real and it shows in the traffic. A meaningful share of enquiries are typed on a phone on a platform or a train, which makes the mobile layout the layout rather than the fallback.

Wheaton College brings a seasonal pattern that catches people out: August and January move differently here, and a site being rebuilt through either is closed during two of its busier weeks.

Who we tend to work with in Wheaton

Professional services more than anywhere else on this list: family and estate lawyers, accountants, title and insurance offices, financial advisers. Alongside them the trades a settled residential town keeps busy — dentists, orthodontists, contractors working on older housing, and a compact downtown of independent shops and restaurants.

What a Wheaton website from us includes

  • A design you approve in full before a single line of code is written
  • Every page built to work on a phone first, because that is where most of your visitors are
  • Copy shaped around what a customer needs to know before they call, not around what fits the layout
  • Contact and enquiry routes on every page, going to an inbox you control
  • Hosting, SSL, a custom domain in your name, and professional email
  • The files and the accounts, in your name, handed over whether you stay or not

The full detail, including what it is measured on and what it is not, is on the website design & development page. For how we work across the region, and what 300 measured Chicagoland sites actually look like, see Chicago web design.

Why nearby matters, and where it does not

Twenty minutes up Naperville Road, which matters mostly because professional firms here still expect to meet somebody. The useful part is understanding the courthouse economy: a Wheaton practice competes with three others on the same block, and the differences between them are not visible from a homepage that lists fourteen practice areas.

Who you would actually be working with: Robin. Twenty-five years in IT and engineering before this studio existed — which is why the builds are fast, boring to host and hard to break.

Wheaton web design questions

Starting

What the first call covers

Fifteen minutes, no charge, and no obligation at the end of it. We ask what you sell, who buys it and what you would most like more of. Then we look at what you already have — the site, the Google listing, whatever is running now — and tell you the one or two things with the shortest path to more enquiries in Wheaton. If that turns out to be something we do not sell, we will say so on the call rather than build a proposal around it. You get the findings either way, in writing, and you can act on them yourself or hand them to somebody else. Nothing about this stage costs you anything or commits you to anything.
